"Benjamin Button" is an extremely rare condition that causes babies to age prematurely and other extreme symptoms. However, it has recently been known that a 2-year-old girl from the UK becomes the world's lone sufferer of the rare condition. The reports from the Sun suggest that Isla Kilpatrick-Screaton from Leicester city is the only one suffering from the rare disease. Her 33-year-old mother, Stacey said that "Isla is the only one in the world to have this particular misspelling of the gene which causes the mutation." She has given up her full-time job to take care of the little one. The rare disease causes the 2-year-old to look way older than her real age. Her father, Kyle Screaton jokingly caller her "grandma". It came as a shock to parents Stacey and Kyle who came to know about the health condition, The Sun reports. They were told by the doctors to "start Googling" because they didn't know a lot about Isla's strange condition. Isla currently communicates via sign language and weighed just 15lbs (6.8kg) when she was born. The shape of her bones is distorted causing the shape of her body to look different.
What Is Benjamin Button Disease (Progeria syndrome)?
The rare group of disorder, Progeria syndrome results in rapid ageing in children. The meaning of "progeria" in Greek is prematurely old and kids having the disease tend to survive to an age of 13 years old on an average. As per the Progeria Research Foundation, Progeria syndrome affects about 1 in 20 million people. The most common type of progeria syndrome is Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome. It's a rare and fatal genetic disorder. Wiedemann-Rautenstrauch syndrome is another type of progeria syndrome. It appears in children while they’re still in utero.

It is being said that despite Isla's elderly appearance her development has been paradoxically delayed. "I just really want to raise awareness of the disease to help Isla and other children that might have it in the future," says Kyle. Last year, an 11-year-old Adalia Rose from Austin, Texas suffering from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome also created an awareness about the ageing disease. She became a social media star inspirng millions of her fans.
