In recent news, 29-year old, Amresh Thakur has received a compensation of rupees two lakh due to hospital negligence. Amresh was administered an injection intra-arterially in place o intravenously due to which four of his fingers from the right hand had to be amputated.
This negligence took place in the Vimhans Hospital and to whom Delhi State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission ordered a compensation of rupees twenty lakhs. The accountability was also laid on one of the doctors of the same hospital. Due to the carelessness of the hospital, the 12-year-old was given an injection intra-arterially in place o intravenously in the year 2001 and due to which This point was noted by the commission noted and on that basis the decision was made. This negligence of the wrong injection caused gangrene to form due to which the amputation happened. The now 29-year-old Amresh is deprived of normal development. According to the reports by Times Now, the hospital allegedly will have to pay 80 per cent of the compensation while the rest 20 per cent will be paid by the negligent doctor.
This medical negligence has caused Amresh too much physical damage and he is now suffering from 29 per cent of permanent physical impairment. The botched up injection has caused in his right upper limb a permanent physical damage, as reported by Times Now his medical certificate says. He visited the hospital because of showing symptoms of fever and vomiting and that is when he met Dr Ajay Kumar Sinha on April 28, 2001, as per reports.
