Pamela Anderson Writes a Letter to PM Modi Urging to Serve Only Vegan Food at Government Events

Veganism is said to a healthier diet alternative that has known to be great for weight loss and overall well-being of the body. Actor Pamela Anderson has been known to be an ardent follower of a vegan lifestyle and on Friday she went ahead to write a letter to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi urging him to help India's fight against climate change by serving vegan food at all government events. Anderson wrote to the prime minister on behalf of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. Also known as PETA, the organisation supports animals and exposes animals suffering in laboratories and various industries.  One of the aspects PETA focuses on is also the treatment animals raised for dairy, meat, and eggs are subject to. The animal rights group and the actor cite that turning to veganism may help reduce the fifth of all human-induced greenhouse gas emissions source.

Anderson in the letter wrote: "With your country’s innovation and agricultural history, I’m sure that India-produced soy and other versatile foods can easily replace these damaging foods.  I appeal to you to show that India can equal or best them," the 52-year-old actor also wrote in the letter. She urged Modi to adopt veganism and initial steps could be opting for vegan food in all government events.  Other countries such as New Zealand, China and Germany have started to take pro-vegan steps.

The letter further read: "In fact, meat and dairy companies are set to become the world’s biggest polluters, and the United Nations warns that a global shift to vegan eating is necessary to combat climate change,” she said. “It’s not an option but a necessity."  "A hideous death at the slaughterhouse" is what the actor compared the industry.  Last month, Anderson had also written to Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking him to serve "nutritious vegan meals in correctional facilities."
