In a strange medical case, a 35-year-old British man was left with a strong erection for nine consecutive days following a minor accident. Reports say that he damaged his penis after he fell off his moped. He suffered a Grade IV erection and it is considered to be the strongest type on medical scale. However, he surprisingly wasn't suffering from any pain and just felt a mild discomfort while walking, as per reports by Metro. Reports further suggest that it took him 12 months "to return to normal erectile function following the injury". He decided to visit the doctor only after two weeks of the accident and that is where he discovered that the accident has caused him a bruised perineum which is the small area in between the anus and the genitals. The bruise had caused a continuous flow of blood to be to his penis which further causes the trapped blood to not be able to drain. The condition if not treated immediately can even lead permanent erectile dysfunction. There are two kinds of priapism, both the high-flow and the low-flow kind. What is Priapism?
Priapism is a condition when an erection lasts too long. Priapism is a medical term for a persistent and painful erection of the penis that lasts for more than 2 hours. This causes more blood flow to the penile area. However, this also causes the valves in the veins close and trap the blood in the area.
