International condom brand Durex launched its new campaign #MainAurMeriFantasy in India that offers viewers a glimpse into real-life sexual fantasies of Indians. As part of the campaign, the official Twitter page of the brand has posted a series of confessional videos (re-enactments) where people speak about their sexual escapades, most of which are of a forbidden nature. One features a bored housewife’s fling with a handsome stranger at a friend’s wedding, another was centred on a man’s one-night-stand with his boss at an office trip and a third about an older woman’s experience seducing her neighbour’s young son. These confessions point to a rather disconcerting truth about relationships today. As per Durex’s Global Sex Survey 1 in 4 individuals in the country have sex outside their marriage, indicating a troubling trend of marital infidelities. Increased use of the internet and smartphones ensures anonymity and convenience for cheating on partners.

The trend is indeed disturbing. But why do people cheat? There is no one reason. It’s easy to think that people who are dissatisfied in their marriage would cheat. But it turns out, happy people cheat too. Common reasons for cheating include unfulfilling sex lives, emotional disconnect and situational reasons.

Dr Mahindra Watsa, the veteran sexologist who’s known for his Ask the Sexpert column in Mumbai Mirror says, “Yes, I have seen a lot in my time. I have seen conversations on social media on people sexual concerns, and in many other ways, talking about sexual problems. Now the question is: Do you need Do you need multiple partners to fulfil these desires? Are there more exiting ways to satisfy your fantasies?” The cheeky sexologist who will be taking over Durex’s Twitter handle on April 3, 2018 at 12 in the noon, and answering all the questions related to sex and sexuality.
