Just when you think that you have hit a peak with yoga, a new trend comes along and trumps them all. This time around, chocolate is the new way to namaste. You read that right. Yoga instructor Guzel Mursalimova came up with a genius idea and created 90-minute mindful chocolate meditation paired with a restorative yoga practice to help you reach your own sweet-toothed bliss. This may just sound like an excuse to dig into chocolate who wouldn’t want to give it a shot?
Say Goodbye to Stress
The cocoa in chocolate is a powerful antioxidant that can enhance your mood and improve your heart health and memory function. Chocolate releases feel-good chemicals in your body. On the other hand, meditation is proven to significantly reduce stress levels. The combination of chocolate and chakaras allows you to experience the medicinal properties of cocoa in a specially designed kundalini yoga practice. The result? You bust stress in this truly addictive yoga practice. Death metal yoga is real! How to sing, scream and head-bang your way to wellness.
A Delicious 90-minute Session
In a typical chocolate yoga class, ancient Buddhist techniques of mindful awareness are used to shift your attention to the present moment and allow your mind to try and unravel a spectrum of new chocolate flavours. Sounds exciting right? Here are the steps and benefits of vrikshasana or the tree pose.
In the second half of the class, restorative yoga practice is paired with essential oils to focus on the movements and the breath. The practice is aimed to increase flexibility, work on your myofascial release, and soften and relax your muscles to help you feel lighter and totally blissed out.
DIY at Home
Unfortunately, this yoga class is now open only in the UK but you can still make this yoga fantasy come to life. There’s nothing that should stop you from introducing your favourite decadent chocolates to your home yoga flows or even suggesting your yoga instructor to try it out. For now, you can just grab a couple of your friends, get some essential oils and chocolates and try indulging in an evening of yoga and dessert-themed TLC at home.
