However, he did clarify that when he says the cultivation of Cannabis, he doesn't mean ganja, which is the Hindi for weed, known for intoxicating the mind of the consumer but hemp for medicinal purposes. A non-intoxicating type of marijuana, hemp is aimed to be cultivated to be used for medical purposes like to develop medicines to be used in the treatment of cancer, making clothes, aimed at industrialisation. Sharma made himself clear by saying that hemp won't be cultivated for consumption or trading. Which means it is not like ganja is legalised, like one of the reporters asked him if that was the case. The cultivation will be legalised and it will be aimed to help cancer treatment. However, he also said that the agricultural project will need international help. He said, "Hemp is being cultivated in parts of the state, but not as a cannabis but as a medicine. It belongs to cannabis sativa plant species but is not cannabis. It'll be used to make cancer medicines. Cloth & bio-plastic can also be manufactured with this."

Many people tend to confuse Hemp with weed also known as ganja in India which is used for recreational purposes to intoxicate the body and may have health hazards. Hemo, however, is a classification of the varieties of Cannabis that contain 0.3% or less THC content. "Hemp" unlike ganja has generally been described non-intoxicating and it is harvested for the industrial use of its derived products.
On the other hand marijuana, weed or ganja are different terms used to classify varieties of Cannabis that contain more than 0.3% THC. It is known to induce psychotropic or euphoric effects which people in layman term call being "high".
