Mumbai, March 6: Vada Pav, the favourite street food of Mumbai and the entire Maharashtra state, has made it to the list of the top 50 best-rated sandwiches in the world. Mumbaikar's comfort food Vada Pav has grabbed the 13th spot on the list. TasteAtlas, a Croatian-based experiential travel guide has published the list. The all-time favourite of people of all ages, Vada Pav, made using simple ingredients, can be eaten on the go. A quick-fill for all, Vada Pav is the only Indian dish on the list, a proud moment indeed. The recipe that is said to be originated in Mumbai's Dadar, Vada is made using spicy mashed potatoes. The potato mix is made into balls and they are covered in chickpea batter. Deep-fried, the Vada is ready in under 5 minutes. The simple snack is served in a sliced Pav with three different chutneys made of garlic, pudina, and dates. Bizarre! Turkish Tombik topped the list of best sandwiches in the world followed by Peru's Butifarra and at 3rd stands Argentina's Sandwich de lomo. New York's Spiedie, a snack consisting of marinated meat cut into cubes, grilled, and placed in a long bread roll, got the fourth number.
