India's largest pizza chain, Domino's has removed pork pepperoni pizza from its menu, because of low demand from consumers and unavailability of good quality meat. According to a Times of India report, rival chain Pizza Hut too has reduced the sale of pork pepperoni pizza to few states.

TOI quoted a spokesperson for Jubilant Foodworks, the franchisee for Domino’s Pizza as saying. “Hence, we have had to put this product temporarily on hold. We are actively working on the same and hope to sort it out soon. Earlier, we had even stopped selling cheese burst pizzas but brought it back because consumers were asking for it."

While, some are speculating that the move was due to religious reasons, other experts feel that it can be to reduce the cost. Reportedly, pepperoni is more expensive than chicken, also if you are using imported pepperoni it will be more costly.
