Eden Gardens to Have a Spread For Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina; From Shukto to Bhetki Paturi, 50 Dishes on Menu!

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will ring the customary Eden bell to start the India-Bangladesh Test from November 22-26. Meanwhile, dignitaries will have a gala dinner.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will ring the customary Eden bell to start the India-Bangladesh Test from November 22-26. Meanwhile, dignitaries will have a gala dinner. The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) plans to have a 50-dishes for the guests attending the event. It will include everything from Gangar Ilish to Posto delicacies. The huge spread is especially for Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid will be among other sportspeople of the country. Eden Gardens - a Ground Renowned for Historic Firsts.

Multiple dishes made of fish will be at the event. Some of the food items include Hilsa, will include Sorshey Pabda, Bhetki Paturi and Daab Chingri. Bengali special and signature dishes include Shukto, Chhanar Dalna and Fulkopi Roast. However, the final menu is yet to be finalised. Shaikh Hasina will be gifted a designer saree and other gifts from Biswa Bangla. Another peculiarity of the event is that a Gold Coin will be used for the toss.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also been invited for the event. Chess legend Viswanathan Anand and tennis star Sania Mirza will also be present along with World badminton champion P V Sindhu, boxer Mary Kom and Abhinav Bindra. Other sportspeople at the event include Tennis player Leander Paes and badminton national coach Pullela Gopichand.

Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) secretary Avishek Dalmiya told reporters at Eden Gardens that Specially designed mementoes will be given to the dignitaries. The CAB will also felicitate the team members of Bangladesh-India first-ever Test in 2000, where Sourav Ganguly, the BCCI president, made his debut as Test captain.
