The who's who of politics, entertainment, sports, World Leaders, business, are going to be present at the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that will be administered by President Ram Nath Kovind. But do you know that there is going to be a special appearance of a food item that is highly anticipated? The guests will be enjoying a High Tea and a banquet and the highlight of the menu is going to be this special in-house delicacy known as "Dal Raisina." This exclusive dish is made with whole black lentils aka Urad Dal in Hindi and tomato puree flavoured with saffron. The most eyebrow-raising this about Dal Raisina is that claims it takes about 48 hours to cook! The Dal Raisina is said to be another variant of maa ki daal, which was introduced by Chef Kasture to the Rashtrapati Bhavan kitchen and takes 48 hours to cook. It is being said that the process of cooking started on Tuesday night itself. However, you can try this easy recipe if you want to make a quicker version of this Dal Raisina at home.
Ingredients
- Boiled Urad dal (Soaked and pressure cooked)
- Butter/oil
- garam masala
- green chillies
- Garlic
- Salt
- coriander powder
- Jeera
- Ginger
- Turmeric
- Coriander leaves
- Tomato puree
- Cream
- Cumin powder
- Kasoori methi
- Onions
- saffron
Method
- To make the dal's flavour base, heat butter and oil in a pan.
- Add jeera, garlic, half a ginger, chopped onions and toss them for a while.
- Now add puree of tomatoes and salt once the tadka is light brown. Mix it well.
- Add half cup water and keep stirring.
- Add turmeric, coriander, cumin, and garam masala powder to the mix along with green chillies. Stir well.
- Now add boiled dal and mix well while adding a cup of water.
- Let it simmer for a bit.
- Now before serving to add kasroori methi, coriander leaves, rest of the garlic and cream and leave it for a minute or two.
- Serve hot.

Leaders and representatives of eight countries, including Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena and Bangladeshi President Abdul Hamid, will be seen participating in the ceremony.
