We keep reading time and again and have been even told countless times about the benefits of water. We are constantly told to drink at least 2-3 liters of water per day, regardless of summer season or winter. But somehow it remains unachievable by most of us. Although in summers, we tend to drink more water it cannot be enough. So a continuous intake of water is a must. A well-hydrated body can not only help to brave the heat but also keep you healthy throughout. On World Water Day, March 21, we tell you some simple tips to ensure you are getting enough water in your body.

Make water your comfort drink: We all are comforted by drinking water but we just do not realise the need to sip on it at regular intervals. So it is important to make it a habit, rather a comfort drink. Water is, of course, the most common thing you think of when you are thirsty but make it a comfortable habit.

Have water everytime you snack on something: Most of us have a habit of snacking in between the meals. Even when we are working, we tend to munch on some biscuits, wafers or just chocolate bars. Put yourself in a habit to drink water everytime you eat something. At least, half a glass before every snack and one full glass after your lunch and dinner is a must.

Avoid aerated drinks: Although fizzy drinks have become comforting to our generation, they are not healthy and definitely may not satiate your thirst. So totally avoid having aerated drinks. Whenever you go out to eat, prefer having water as your preference over the fizzy drinks or colas.

Mark your water intake: Like we said earlier, we need to get habituated to drinking more and more water. To ensure that you are having enough, mark your water limit. You could go plain markings on your bottle to see how much water you have drank in a day. The next day, make it a point you have more than what you had previously. Compete with someone if that's the encouragement you need but keep marking your water intake daily.

Have fruits rich in water-content: While juices are a good option to swap water, prefer having fruits. Fruits like watermelon, peaches, apples, grapes, muskmelon are high on water content. Replace these fruits for your snacks and you can ensure you have water entering your body.

Install Water trackers app: Health apps are a big thing and we have many examples. There is even an application which lets you track your water diet. You can install these applications which will give you reminders to sip on water. We do not advice too much dependency on technology, but if that's a resort then be it.

These are some tips which you can adopt to ensure your water intake is rising. If you are already consuming 2-3 liters of water then it is very good but if you are not, it is high time you get yourself this habit. Trust us, it is highly recommended. Water can regularise your bodily functions to a great extent. It can help kidney function, bowel movements, remove toxins, and overall strengthen your immune system. This World Water day, pledge that you will increase your water intake for a better lifestyle.
