New Delhi, June 4: The government on Tuesday launched 'Selfie With Sapling' initiative to spread awareness about building a clean environment. People across the nation will mark the World Environment Day on Wednesday, June 5, with great enthusiasm. To mark the occasion, Union Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar said that similar programs will be held in next 2-3 days. World Environment Day is widely celebrated in over 100 countries across the globe on June 5. World Environment Day 2019 Greetings And Messages: WhatsApp Stickers, Facebook Quotes, GIF Image Greetings To Mark The Day To Save Planet Earth. 

Javadekar further said that Kapil Dev and Jackie Shroff will also participate and plant a sapling on Wednesday at Paryavaran Bhawan at 10:30 am. "I'm sure ppl of India will also celebrate it with lot of enthusiasm. The theme for World Environment Day 2019 is “Air pollution”. In 2018, the theme was 'Beat Plastic Pollution' and India served as the global host nation for the 43rd edition of the event. Since its inception in 1974, World Environment Day is celebrated on the 5th of June each year to raise awareness and improve actions towards protecting the environment.

The event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach which is celebrated with great zeal in over 100 countries. The theme for eevry World Environment Day is decided on something that draws attention to a particularly pressing environmental concern.

Ahead of the World Environment Day this year, the Environment Ministry had released a music video featuring Akshay Kumar and other Bollywood actors and dedicated to the #BeatAirPollution campaign. The video which spans for 3.32 minutes begins with a shot of Akshay jogging with a mask on. The video also incorporates clips of factories spewing smoke, fire and people holding banners urging to stop air pollution, living up to the theme of the World Environment Day 2019.
