The only method to protect against STI’s is a latex condom

Latex and polyurethane condoms are the only forms of contraception shown to protect against sexually transmitted infections including HIV. Available without any prescription, condoms do have a failure rate of 13 percent, says Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Pills are not for everyone

The CDC data reports that the use of pills decreases with the age. It is used by 19.5% women in their 20s, 11 % women in their 30s and 5.1% in their 40s. When a woman wants to conceive, she can easily stop the pills.

Older women are more likely to use contraceptives than younger ones

According to the CDC data, about 74 percent of women above 40 years of age, 72 percent between 30 and 39 age and 62 percent between the age of 20 and 29 use birth control.

No birth control method is 100 percent effective in preventing pregnancy

None of the birth control methods guarantee sure shot assurance in preventing pregnancy. Contraceptive implants and IUDs are highly effective only because they remove the need for the user to remember to do something on a regular basis.
