Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 in India will start on September 19 and last until September 28. One of the main days of Ganeshotsav is Anant Chaturdashi, which is significant in the western state of Maharashtra. The day marks the conclusion of the ten-day Ganesh Chaturthi festival. On this day, people immerse idols of Lord Ganesha in water bodies, usually in rivers or the sea, bidding farewell to Ganpati Bappa with the hope of his return the next year. Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 Wishes, Vinayaka Chavithi Greetings, HD Images and WhatsApp Messages for Family and Friends.

This year, Anant Chaturdashi 2023 or Ganesh Visarjan Day falls on September 28, 2023. Ganeshotsav culminates on Anant Chaturdashi, also known as Ganesha Visarjan day, when the Ganesh idol is carried in a public procession with music and dance by devotees and is then immersed in a nearby water body. During the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, the primary sweet dish prepared by devotees is Modak. Many families across Maharashtra perform Ganesha Visarjan on the 1.5, 3rd, 5th, or 7th day rather than performing it on the 11th day as per their family tradition.

Anant Chaturdashi Significance

Apart from Ganesha Visarjan, the day of Anant Chaturdashi is a very significant day to worship Lord Vishnu in Anant form. Devotees of Lord Vishnu observe a day-long fast and tie sacred thread during Puja. It is believed that sacred thread protects devotees from all sorts of trouble and obstacles.  Ananta Chaturdashi is marked on the fourteenth day of the moon's waxing phase during the Hindu month of Bhadrapada.

According to the Agni Purana, the Ananta (Shesha; the divine serpent) manifestation of Vishnu is venerated on this day to free adherents from sins. Anant Chaturdashi is also an important day in the Jain calendar of festivities.
