- Observe a full fast from sunrise to moonrise. Some women may choose to have fruits and milk if a complete fast is not possible.
- Worshipping the banyan tree, also known as Vat Vriksha, is mandatory on this day. Devotees should offer water, apply vermilion, and tie threads around the tree trunks.
- Recite prayers and mantras dedicated to Savitri and the banyan tree.
- Read or listen to the story of Savitri and Satyavan, which highlights Savitri's devotion and the significance of the vrat.
- It is considered auspicious to give alms and donations to the needy on this day.

- Don't let negative thoughts enter your mind, and try focusing on positivity.
- Avoid consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and food items that are not meant for fasting day.
