Ugadi 2018 Greetings: Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh Leaders Extend Wishes on The Eve of Telugu New Year

Hyderabad, March 17: Wishes and greetings for Ugadi - the New Year's Day for the Hindus of Karnataka, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana poured in from across the nation. Ugadi - the New Year's Day is celebrated in these states on the first day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month of Chaitra. In the Gregorian calendar, the festival typically falls in March or April.

On the eve of Ugadi festivity, Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit and Chief Minister K Palaniswami on Saturday extended their Ugadi greetings, to be celebrated tomorrow. “On the happy occasion of Ugadi, I extend my hearty greetings and best wishes to the Telugu and Kannada speaking people of the State. While rejoicing in the festivities of Ugadi and upholding our glorious traditions and customs, let us all resolve to work together to usher in progress and development”, Purohit said. “May our efforts be directed to make our nation peaceful, strong and prosperous”, he said in a release.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edappadi K. Palaniswami said that that “Telugu and Kannada speaking people in Tamil Nadu have been mingling as siblings for a long period with the people of the State and it is a matter of pride”. In an official release, Palaniswami wished all-round prosperity for those celebrating Ugadi tomorrow.
