Teej is an important festival celebrated enthusiastically in India, especially in the Northern states. As per the Hindu calendar, Teej denotes the third day after the full moon when the monsoon begins. It is a combined name for 3 Hindu festivals primarily dedicated to Hindu deities - the Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. The Teej festivities are observed with much fanfare by women in North Indian states, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar. The three famous Teej (s) women celebrate during the Sawan and Bhadrapada months are Hariyali Teej, Kajari Teej and Hartalika Teej. Difference Between Hariyali Teej, Hartalika Teej & Kajari Teej
Most people get confused between the Hariyali Teej, Hartalika Teej & Kajari Teej. But worry not; we have you covered! Teej refers to the three types of Teej festivals celebrated in India. Haryali Teej is celebrated on the third day after the full moon of the Shravan month, Kajari Teej is celebrated 15 days later, and Hartalika Teej is celebrated another 15 days later, i.e., 15 days after Kajari Teej.
Haryali Teej is also known as the Sindhara Teej, Chhoti Teej, Shravana Teej or Sawan Teej. It falls on the third day after the full moon of the Shravana month, corresponding to August in the Gregorian calendar. Haryali Teej marks the day when Lord Shiva consented to Goddess Parvati's wish to marry him. Hence, the day is celebrated by the married woman who visits their parental home and prepares the swings on which they swing and sing happy teej songs.
Kajari Teej, also known as the Badi Teej, is celebrated 15 days after the Haryali Teej. Kajari Teej falls during the moon's dark (waxing crescent) phase. Kajari Teej is also spelt as Kajali Teej or Kajri Teej in some regions.

The Hartalika Teej falls one lunar month after the Haryali Teej on the third day after the full moon in the month of Bhadrapada, which usually falls a day before the Ganesh Chaturthi. The day marks the occasion when Goddess Parvati encouraged her friends to kidnap her so she could escape the marriage with Lord Vishnu that her father wished for. This day is celebrated by married women who observe the 'nirjala vrat' for the long life of their husbands.
