Bengaluru, August 28: Ahead of upcoming Gowri Habba and Ganesha festival on September 1 and 2, Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) and South Western Railway (SWR) have decided to operate special services to ease of commuters. The KSRTC has announced to operate 1800 extra buses on August 30 and 31 from Bengaluru to different parts of Karnataka, while SWR to run special trains with the special fare for Gowri-Ganesha festival.

According to the information, released by KSRTC and published in the Indian Express, the state-run public transportation service will ply special buses from Kempegowda Bus Station on Friday and Saturday. All the buses will ply round the clock to Dharmasthala, Kukkesubramanya, Shivamogga, Hassan, Mangaluru, Kundapura, Sringeri, Horanadu, Davangere, Hubbali, Dharwad, Belagavi, Viajayapura, Gokarna, Sirsi, Karwar, Raichur, Kalaburagi, Ballari, Koppala, Yadgir, Bidar, Tirupathi and other destinations. Also, buses will ply from Mysuru for Hunsur, Piriyapatna, Virajpet, Kushalnagar, and Madikeri. They would commence the journey from the KSRTC Bengaluru Central Depot in Shantinagar. The services include buses to Madurai, Kumbakonam, Trichy, Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupathi, Vijayawada, Hyderabad. Interested commuters have been advised to reserve tickets prior to the date of the journey either through online www.ksrtc.in.

Tickets would also be available from 707 ticket counters, on which KSRTC has offered a discount of 5 per cent on the fare if four or more passengers book tickets in a single booking. A 10 per cent discount will be offered of the total fare if onward and return tickets are booked simultaneously.

Even SWR has announced to run special trains with the special fare for Gowri-Ganesha festival. The railways has decided to run Train No. 06581/06582 Yesvantpur – Belagavi – Yesvantpur Special Express with special fares to clear extra rush of passengers during Ganesha festival.

Here's the details for trains plying on Friday and Saturday on different routes:

1) Special train from Yeshwantpur at 11 pm, August 30:

Train No. 06581 Yesvantpur – Belagavi Special Express will depart from Yesvantpur at 11 pm on August 30(Friday) and will arrive in Belagavi at 11.15 am the next day. The train will have stops at Tumakuru (Arrival: 12.03 am/Departure: 12.05 am), Arsikere (Arr: 01.30 am/ Dep: 01.35 am), Birur (Arr: 02:25 am/ Dep: 02.27 am), Davangere (Arr: 4.25 am/ Dep: 04.27 am), Harihar (Arr:4.45 am/ Dep:04.47 am), Haveri (6 am /6.02 am), Hubballi (07.50am /08.05 am), Dharwad- 8.30 am/08.32 am, Alnavar (9.28 am/9.29 am) and Londa (10.10 am/10.11 am).

2) Return train from Belagavi at 7 pm, September 2:

Train No. 06582 Belagavi – Yesvantpur Special Express will depart Belagavi at 19:00 hrs on 02.09.2019 (Monday) and arrive Yesvantpur at 06:20 hrs on next day. En route, the train will arrive/depart Londa -19:59/20:00 hrs, Alnvar-20:37/20:38 hrs, Dharwad – 21:18/21:20 hrs, Hubballi – 22:10/22:20 hrs, Haveri – 23:19/23:20 hrs, Harihar – 00:12/00:14 hrs, Davangere – 00:28/00:30 hrs, Birur – 02:10/02.11 hrs, Arsikere – 03:05/03:10 hrs and Tumakuru at 04:43/04:45 hrs.

The special train will have five AC coaches and 16 SL coaches. It will have an AC 2-tier Coach, two AC 3-tier Coaches, 16 Second Class Sleeper Coaches and two Second Class coaches with Luggage cum Brake-van.
