The ninth month of the year is full of major festivals and events in India. If last month was about Krishna Janmashtami, September would have popular Hindu festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi and Sharad Navratri. The month begins with Ganesh Chaturthi, a festival marking Lord Ganesh’s birth. It is celebrated over ten days and is also known as Ganeshotsav. Sharad Navratri is the biggest of four Navratris celebrated in the honour of Goddess Durga. We also have an important Muslim festival, Ashura or the tenth day of Muharram, the first month in the Islamic calendar. Apart from festival dates, we have a number of prominent national and international days like Teachers’ Day, International Day of Charity, International Day of Peace, World Heart Day. These days are also observed with a lot of passion and enthusiasm. Let us look at the September 2019 calendar in detail, the important days and events to commemorate, along with religious festivals, birth and death anniversaries.
