Mumbai, June 01: The people of Muslim community observe the ritual of Roza (a type of fasting) during the holy month of Ramzan. The month of Ramadan ul-Kareem, this year, began in the month of May in the Indian subcontinent region. The people who were able to sight the pleasant crescent moon on 29th Sha’aban started their fasting from May 17. Those who could not see it on that night, they began their fasting on May 18. There are different timings for people observing Roza across different parts of India. For the people in Delhi, the Sehri timings on June 02 will end at 04.08 am. The people in Muslim community who are observing Roza are then duty-bound to avoid consuming water & food.

The people can end their fasting in the evening, at the time of dusk, the ritual which is called Iftari. For the people living in Delhi, the Iftari timings will begin at 07.15 pm.

In Mumbai, the Sehri will end at 04.53 am, whereas the Iftari is slated to begin at 07.13 pm. In Bhopal, Sehri will end at 04.24 am and Iftari will begin at 07.03 pm. In Srinagar, the ritual of Sehri will end at 03.58 am, whereas the Iftari will begin at 07.37 pm.

The people who hail from Muslim community are schooled by Islamic scholars to adhere to the Sehri & Iftari timings while observing their Roza (fasting). It is said that people who skip the pre-dawn meals, should not skip them as it is against the principles of Sunnah.
