Since the moon has not been sighted in the Middle East, experts are firm that the crescent would neither be visible today in the UK and other parts of Europe. Weather experts in the Britain claim the moon would most probably be visible to naked eye on May 16. In Scotland, they claim, the moon would be visible only on May 17.

London, May 15: Designated religious authorities in the United Kingdom (UK), Great Britain, Germany, France, Belgium and other parts of Europe are keeping a vigil on the crescent moon, which would mark the beginning of the month of Ramadan ul-kareem (Ramzan) 2018. If the moon is sighted today, most of the Western Europe will begin fasting from tomorrow. However, a massive section of believing Muslims in Europe keep a watch on the moon sighting updates from the Middle East. If the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia declares the beginning of Ramadan from today, most among the Muslims in Europe would begin fasting from tomorrow.
If the Ramadan moon is sighted today, the Namaz-e-Taraweeh would begin from tomorrow. Taraweeh is the special prayer held post Isha'a namaz on every night of Ramadan, when the entire Quran is narrated in divided portions over the next 27 days.
