Raksha Bandhan is around the corner and siblings are super-excited about celebrating the festival. The traditional ways of celebrating Raksha Bandhan involves sisters tying a Rakhi on their brothers’ wrist, which is regarded as a holy thread and the brother promises to protect the sister in return. Chef Rubal Pupneja of Hotel Samrat, ITDC, shared with us his special recipe of edible rakhi. Check out this easy-to-make recipe you can pleasantly surprise your siblings with this Raksha Bandhan.
Ingredients:
Marzipan | 40 gms |
Compound Dark Chocolate | 30 gms |
Whie Compound Chocolate | 15 gms |
Pink Colour (food grade) | few drops to colour the marzipan |
Green Colur ( Food grade) | few drops to the colour the marzipan |
Yellow Colour ( Edible) | few drops to the colour the marzipan |
Edible Sugar Stars | 5-10 nos |
Almond ( half coated with melted chocolate ) | 2 nos |
Method:
- Melt the compound dark chocolate over a double boiler and then spread it evenly over a grease paper.
- Allow it to set by keeping it in a refrigerator.
- Once set, cut into a round disc shape with the help of a round cutter.
- Repeat all steps with white chocolate. (these discs will be smaller)
- Divide marzipan into three parts.
- Add yellow, green and pink colours to one part each.
- Make a disc out of the yellow part of the marzipan and take that as a base.
- Now make a colourful strap using the other two parts of the coloured marzipan by mixing and rolling them.
- Create an impression over it with the help of a toothpick .
- Now assemble the Rakhi disc over the strap, try to place it in the middle of the strap.
- Place the disc made with dark chocolate on top of it.
- Place the smaller, white chocolate disc over it, in the centre.
- Place a half chocolate-coated piece of almond in the centre of the white chocolate disc.
- Along the periphery of the dark chocolate disc, place edible sugar stars. (Optional)
- Your edible rakhi is ready to serve !

Marzipan is a confectionery item generally made from sugar and almond powder. But today, they are available in many variations in the market. It is easily available in the market and generally used to make bakery and confectionery items.
