India Fondly Remembers Pingali Venkayya
Venkayya was born in Bhatlapenumarru, situated near Machilipatnam, what is today known as Andhra Pradesh. His version of the country’s flag was first designed for the Indian National Congress and subsequently modified in 1947 with the Ashok Chakra replacing the spinning wheel.
