Pandharpur Wari, also known as Wari, is a 21-day pilgrimage to the Vitobha Temple in Pandharpur, Maharashtra, to honour the deity Vithoba. During this yatra, devotees carry the sacred paduka, which is an ancient form of footwear of the revered saints, particularly Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj, in a palanquin, which is called a palkhi. It is carried from their respective shrines to Pandharpur. The procession has many pilgrims travelling on foot. The pilgrimage, which began on June 28, 2024, will end on July 17, 2024, and stay in Pandharpur till July 21, 2024. This tradition is said to be over 700 to 800 years old. Sant Dnyaneshwar's palkhi, begins in Alandi and Sant Tukaram's starts in Dehu. The journey ends on the auspicious day of Shayani Ekadashi. Devotees from across Maharashtra and neighbouring places participate, wearing beads of holy basil and singing holy hymns that celebrate the saints.
