New Delhi, February 14: Outfits such as Bajrang Dal, Vishu Hindu Parishad and ABVP are known for harassing and thrashing couples on Valentine's Day. However, this year, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has a piece of special advice for couples to celebrate Valentine's Day without being beaten up by right-wing activists. In a tweet, Shashi Tharoor presents an argument that couples celebrating Valentine's Day can use against 'Sangh Parivar trolls'.
Wishing everyone Valentine's Day, Tharoor advised couples to say they are celebrating Kamadeva Divas if they get threatened by Sangh Parivar. "If any Sangh Parivar trolls try to threaten you for being out with a friend, tell them you are celebrating the ancient Indian tradition of #KamadevaDivas ! (sic)," the Congress lawmaker said in a tweet. Kamadeva, a Hindu god of love, is often portrayed along with his female counterpart Rati. Valentine’s Day 2019: Bajrang Dal to Counsel Young Couples.

Bajrang Dal has city-wise plans to protest against the celebration of Valentine's Day. In Hyderabad, activists of Bajrang Dal would burn effigies of Valentine on the roads at various places. They have asked restaurants and malls asking them to not allow celebrations related to the festival. In Dehradoom, they have planned to shoot videos of couples involving in 'obscene activities' in public.
Last year, a few cases were also registered against Bajrang Dal workers for vandalising places where celebrations were going on.
