National Day of China, also known as the National Day of the People's Republic of China, is celebrated annually on October 1. The day marks the anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on October 1, 1949. This day commemorates the declaration made by Mao Zedong in Tiananmen Square, Beijing, signifying the victory of the Chinese Communist Party after years of civil war. As per historical records, the Chinese Communist Party victory in the Chinese Civil War resulted in the Kuomintang retreat to Taiwan and the Chinese Communist Revolution whereby the People's Republic of China replaced the Republic of China.

Although the National Day of the People’s Republic of China is observed on October 1, another six days are added to the official holiday comprising seven consecutive days also known as Golden Week.
