Birendra Krishna Bhadra’s ‘Mahishasura Mardini’ Live Telecast
People in most Bengali households wake up at around 4 am on the day of Mahalaya to accord the Mother Goddess the ritualistic welcome by playing the “Mahishasura Mardini” composition, which is considered a timeless classic. The composition comprises a rich narration and Chandipath by legendary Birendra Krishna Bhadra and a medley of devotional songs by other popular artists. The mythological audio montage consists of devotional songs dedicated to Goddess Durga, classical music and scriptural verses.
“Mahishasura Mardini” for Mahalaya 2023 will begin at 4 am on October 14. The live broadcast of the program will be available in the Bengali version on the FM Rainbow network, while Hindi listeners can watch the program on Indraprastha Channel and FM Gold.
