Madhvacharya’s greatest work is considered to be the Anuvyakhyana, a philosophical supplement on the Brahma Sutras composed with a poetic structure. In some of his works, he proclaimed himself an avatar of Vayu, the son of Lord Vishnu. Sri Madhvacharya was born on the auspicious day of Vijaya Dashami in 1238 C.E. at Pajaka, a tiny hamlet near Udupi. His teachings emphasised the dualistic interpretation of the relationship between the individual soul (Jiva) and God (Vishnu), asserting that they are eternally distinct.

The philosophy of Dvaita Vedanta is known as Tattvavada—the Philosophy of Reality. It completely identifies God with Brahman and, in turn, with Vishnu or his various incarnations. The followers of Madhvacharya do not document his death but his departure to Badri at the age of 79 in 1317 C.E.
