It is the time of harvest in several parts of the country. In Punjab, it is celebrated with enthusiasm called as Lohri festival. It marks the end of sowing the rabi crops which are now ready to be harvested. In fact, both Sikhs and Hindus celebrate the festival by lighting a bonfire. People gather around the bonfire, offer prayers to the fire God, Agni. Some specific sweets are made to offer in the fire like peanuts, popcorn, Rewari.
