Mumbai, Sep 13: On the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi or Ganeshotsav, Lalbaugcha Raja, the famous Lord Ganesh idol, will be installed in Mumbai. From today onwards, devotees of Lord Ganesha will offer puja aarti to Lalbaugcha Raja till September 23 when the 10-day celebration will end on Anant Chaturdashi, also known as Ganesh Visarjan. The organizers at Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal has been keeping the grand idol of Lord Ganesha for public display since 1934. Devotees wait in long queues to catch a glimpse of Lalbaugcha Raja and to offer prayers to Lord Ganesha at Lalbaug. At Lalbaug, the morning Aarti is held 12.30 pm and evening aarti is organised at 08.30 pm. However, for devotees, gates will remain open for all 24 hours in a day. The celebrations will culminate on September 23 with the immersion of Lord Ganesha idols in different water bodies. While several big mandals immerse the idol on the last day, some do the immersion on one-and-a-half day, third, fifth or seventh day.
