Mumbai, Sep 21: Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations are in full swing in Maharashtra with devotees visiting pandals and seeking the blessing of the Lord. The 10-day long festival is celebrated with great pomp and religious fervour as the devotees queue up at various temples to offer prayers. Lalbaugcha Raja, which one of Mumbai’s biggest Ganpati idol, is one of the famous pandals where people throng in large numbers. The Sarvajanik pandal is kept for public display for 11 days. This year Lalbaugcha entered its 84th year. On the visarjan day, i.e. Anant Chaturdashi, the Lalbaugcha Raja is taken out of the pandal at around 10 am. Lakh of devotees will bid farewell to Lord Ganesh as idols from the biggest pandals in the city will make their way to Chowpatty for immersion amidst celebrations and tight security. Amid much fanfare, the state witnessed the immersion processions of Ganesh idols across the state as the festival of Ganeshotsav reaches the 7th day of immersion. Scores of devotees carried out the visarjan rituals across the state. The Hindu festival which is dedicated to the Lord of new beginnings, Ganesha began with the installation of the deity's idol at home and at various pandals across the state. The 10-day festival ends on September 23, with the final immersion - also called the Visarjan - of Lord Ganesha’s idol.
