Ganeshotsav has entered the eighth day of celebrations and festivities continue with enthusiasm and joy. The Ganpati festival has a lot of love and emotion in the hearts of Mumbaikars. Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated with great pomp and fervour in the city. Every year, the streets fill with loud chants of 'Ganpati Bappa Morya' for ten days of the celebrations.

Lalbaugcha Raja which can be translated to the 'King of Lalbaug', is believed to fulfil the wishes of people who pray to him. Organised by Lalbaugcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal, prayers begin with morning darshan and aarti at 6:00 am. You can watch the live telecast and streaming at their YouTube official channel. Lalbaugcha Raja Charan Sparsh is available for 24 hours on until Saturday.

Ganeshotsav which marks the birth of Lord Ganesha began as a community festival in the 19th century. It was Indian freedom fighter Lokmanya Tilak who appealed to people who make it a community festival as Britishers were against Indian gatherings. He urged the people to celebrate the festival as a society thus showing resistance to their rule. Lalbaugcha Raja which first began on September 12, 1934, is in its 84th year.
On Anant Chaturthi which falls on September 22 this year, the darshan at Lalbaug will be shut at 10.00 am. The idol is immersed in water after a long procession attended by thousands of people on the streets of Mumbai. With music and dance, the city bids farewell to their favourite God hoping him to visit them soon the next day.
