The day involves fasting by devotees of Lord Krishna, devotional singing and dancing, reenactments of Krishna's life, and the preparation of special foods. The time to perform Krishna Puja is during Nishita Kaal which is the midnight as per Vedic time-keeping. In 2024, the Nishita Puja Time is 12:17 AM to 01:03 AM on August 27. Devotees perform Puja during midnight and it involves all sixteen steps which are part of Shodashopachara Puja Vidhi.
