Bhopal, October 24: Hindu married women are observing a day-long fast on Saturday on the auspicious occasion of Karwa Chauth. The term Karwa Chauth derives from two words, ‘Karwa’, which means earthen pot and ‘Chauth’ means ‘fourth’ in Hindi. Karwa Chauth falls on the fourth day after the full moon (Sharad Purnima), which is Krishna Paksha Chaturthi. It falls in the month of Kartik, which is October.
