Significance and Puja Vidhi

It is said that devotees must observe a fast and worship Lord Vishnu whole-heartedly on this day. The Tulsi plant also holds a great significance on Kamika Ekadashi as Tulsi is considered sacred to Lord Vishnu. Devotees who pray in front of the Tulsi plant and also offer tulsi leaves to Lord Vishnu receive blessings that also help them get rid of any 'Pitru dosh'.

Those who observe the Kamika Ekadashi fast must wake up and take a bath before sunrise and pray to Lord Vishnu by offering Tulsi leaves, fruits, flowers and sesame seeds. The person observing the fast must also light a lamp (diya) in front of Lord Vishnu.

It is said that performing a Jaagran (overnight prayers) with Vishnu Bhajans on this ekadashi also brings good fortune. Devotees must also read 'Vishnu Sahastrsanaam' on Kamika Ekadashi.

Meanwhile, many devotees also head to pilgrim centres for holy bath or puja. People are seen thronging the Ganga ghats for Ganga snaan and also Vishnu temples across the country on Kamika Ekadashi.
