Kalki Jayanti is an auspicious occasion that marks the future birth of Kalki, the tenth and the last incarnation of Lord Vishnu at the end of Kali Yuga. Kalki Jayanti celebrates the prophesied birth of Kalki, the final avatar of Vishnu, is set to be born near the end of the Kali Yuga to eradicate vices, slay the asura Kali and restore dharma, turning the Wheel of Time to the Satya Yuga. Kalki's birth ceremony is observed on the Dwadashi Tithi of the Shukla paksha in the Bhadrapada month as per the traditional Hindu calendar. In the Gregorian calendar, Kalki Jayanti falls on the twelfth day of the waxing phase of the moon. Kalki Jayanti 2024 will be celebrated on Saturday, August 10.

Kalki Jayanti Puja Rituals

1. Devotees often observe fasts, perform special prayers, and read scriptures related to Kalki during this day.

2 On this day, devotees wake up early in the morning and take a bath before sunrise and perform the puja with the bijamantra.

3. After chanting this mantra, a seat (asana) is offered to Kalki.

4. The murti is then washed with panchamrita as abhisheka, with the offerings of flowers, diya, and incense.

5. Devotees also conduct special puja in Lord Vishnu temples on the occasion of Kalki Jayanti.

6. During this period, the recitation of the Hari Stotra, Vishnu Sahasranama, Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya, and other mantras are carried out 108 times.

Kalki Jayanti Significance

Kalki Jayanti is celebrated with great devotion by Hindus. On this day, temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu also hold special rituals and ceremonies to mark the occasion. It is said that devotees who engage in charity on this day are blessed with prosperity and happiness. The festival is particularly significant in certain parts of India, where there is a strong belief in the future incarnation of Kalki. As per Puranas, it is said that Kalki would be born in the village of Shambala, to a Brahmin family, whose parents would be named Vishnuyasha and Sumati. This event will take place near the end of Kali Yuga. It is said that during this time, when Kalki grows up and becomes a trained warrior, he will ride on a divine white horse named Devadatta with a blazing sword, accompanied by a talking parrot, Shuka, who knows the past, present, and future.

Kalki then goes around the world to fight evil kingdoms and Kali, who is a demon that has the powers of a yogi to control beings and make them commit adharma. He then restores dharma and returns to his kingdom, and finally to Vaikuntha.
