As per a legend, it is said that the Trimurti Gods – Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva – were discussing who is the most superior of them all in a serious mood. It was then when Lord Brahma made some remarks which didn’t go down well with Shiva, and it then when Bhairava appeared. Shiva ordered his ganor Bhairava to cut off one of the Brahma’s five heads. The wrathful manifestation followed Shiva’s orders and severed one of the heads, leaving Lord Brahma four-headed. In fear, all others fell in line and prayed to Shiva and Bhairava to keep calm.
