Mumbai, August 23: "Who is Krishna?" asked a disciple to AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupadathe or Srila Prabhupada, the founder of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). Prabhupada replied, "Krishna is a historic personality. He is the Supreme personaity of God." That is the nearest one can come to describing Lord Krishna. And on Janmashtami 2019, here's revisiting the lessons we can learn from Lord Krishna's life. Janmashtami 2019: 10 Quotes & Timeless Lessons Given by Lord Krishna From the Bhagavad Gita.

Krishna is the 8th avatar of Vishnu, considered a part of the holy Hindu trinity forming Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the one who sustains) and Shiva (the destroyer). Lord Krishna is also known as a complete avatar. That is because he had all the qualities possible and hence the name Sampurna Avatar (complete avatar). Various anecdotes and episodes from Lord Krishna's life provides us a glimpse into his personality and the message that he holds for all of humnaity. Indian spiritual guru and philosopher Rajneesh, popularly known as Osho, called Lord Krishna someone who was "way ahead of his time," in his book Krishna: The Man and His Philosophy.

Here's Lessons We Can Learn From Lord Krishna's Life That Can Help Us Lead a Better Life

1. Duty is a form of Devotion

Lord Krishna teaches us all to fulfill our duties as a form of devotion to the almight lord himself. This will help us to do our duties in a way that will keep our morale up and save us from falling into the mundane.

2. Every Problem Has a Solution

Lord Krishna's life teaches us that every problem has a solution. Be it Lord Krishna's battles with Kansa, his maternal uncle hell bent on killing him, or the psychological battles with the Kauravas, Lord Krishna faces the challenges with calm and composure.

3. Detachment

Lord Krishna through his message in the Gita teaches us to give our best and yet not be affected by the result or reward. He reminds us that process is the key and that the result is just the by-product, rather than the other way round.

4. Look Within

Believe it or not, most of our problems in life are self-created. And hence they can also be eradicated if we look within ourselves. Lord Krishna emphasises on us having a spiritual base and outlook to fight against the worldy and material factors that overwhelm us.

5. Fight For What is Your Right

Lord Krishna teaches us to fight for what is our right! He could have advised Pandava warrior Arjuna to not fight and stopped the war (he did try that before, but Duryodhana refused). But Lord Krishna knew that injustice was being done and that Pandavas were given a rough deal. Hence Krishna advises Arjuna to take up the bow and fight for what is right!
