Janmashtami 2018: How Birth of Lord Krishna is Celebrated At Various ISKCON Temples Across The Nation

Janmashtami is celebrated to mark the birth of Hindu God Lord Krishna. He is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu on earth.

Janmashtami is celebrated across the country to mark the birth of Hindu God Lord Krishna. He is the eighth incarnation of Lord Vishnu on earth. Krishna believed to have born on the eighth day of the holy month, Shravana, as per the Hindu Lunar calendar. Lord Krishna is the most popular deity in Hindu mythology.  This year the festival is to be celebrated on September 3. Cities like Mathura, Gokul, and Vrindavan are known for their Janmashtami celebrations.

Temples all across the country are decorated, and various stages of Krishna’s life are presented through drama enactments. The Janmashtami celebrations at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has already begun. The ISKCON temple at Kharghar has already started Janmashtami celebrations from August 26. The series of events are collectively known as ‘Bhakatiras Sharavan Utsav 2018.’ September 3 will be celebrated as the ‘appearance of the Lord Krishna Day’.

ISKCON temple situated at Bangaluru will start the Janmashtami celebrations from September 2 and the celebrations will end on September 3. The arrangements for celebrating the festival has already begun at the temple. The temple hall is decorated with flowers and festoons. On the occasion of Janmashtami, the food will also be served to the devotees. Lord Krishna will be offered 108 different food items.

Janmashtami celebrations have also begun at ISKCON Temple situated in Juhu, Mumbai. The ISKCON temple in Juhu is one of Mumbai's most popular temples. Many celebrities also visit this temple on the occasion of Janmashtami. This year too, the temple has been decorated with lights. ‘Maha-Aari and Maha-Abhishek’ and ‘Jhulan-Seva’ will be organised on Janmashtami. Idols of Radha and Krishna will be also decorated with beautiful dresses.
