On November 17, 1939, the University of Prague was started by Nazi following the demonstrations against the German occupation of Czechoslovakia and the killings of Jan Opletal and worker Václav Sedláček.according to history, the Nazis rounded up the protestors, killing nine student leaders and sending more than 1200 students to concentration camps. They went on to shut down all the Universities in Czechoslovakia. Since the student leaders and professors who organised the protest back in 1939 were killed on this day, it serves as a pressing reminder of the atrocities that were inflicted upon students.
