Matangini Hazra

Matangini Hazra or ‘Gandhi Buri’ (old lady of Gandhi) was a brave and extraordinary woman who devoted her life to the freedom struggle of the country. She was an Indian revolutionary who actively participated in the Indian Independence movement until British Indian police shot her dead in 1942.

Khudiram Bose

Khudiram Bose was one of the youngest Indian freedom fighters who joined the freedom struggle under the influence of Aurobindo Ghosh. He was an Indian revolutionary with a major role in Muzaffarpur Conspiracy Case. He was sentenced to death and executed by the Britishers. Bhikaiji Cama

Bhikaiji Rustom Cama or ‘Madam Cama’ was a significant figure in the Indian freedom struggle. She also stressed on the equality between men and women. Madam Cama gave away most of her possessions to help orphanage girls. She visited Germany in 1907 while serving as India's envoy, raising the Indian National Flag at the Stuttgart International Socialist Conference.

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay

Kamaladevi Chattopadhyay was an ardent independence fighter and a courageous woman. She participated in the 1930 Salt Satyagraha and tried to better the social and economic circumstances of women in India. Additionally, she ran for the Legislative Assembly as the first female candidate. The All India Women's Conference was largely established thanks to Kamaladevi.

Lakshmi Sahgal

Former Indian Army officer Lakshmi Sahgal went by the nickname Captain Lakshmi. She served as the tigress of the Indian freedom war while a member of the Indian National Army, which Netaji Subhash Candra Bose established. She was the female commander of the Rani of Jhansi Regiment, which was comprised entirely of female army officers.
