New Delhi, May 8: Muslims across India, except in Kerala and some districts of Karnataka, will break their second Roza or fast this evening as part of Ramadan month. Muslims in Kerala and Karnataka’s Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts are observing their third fast as the Ramzan moon was sighted a day before it appeared in rest of the parts. Muslims in Mumbai can have Iftar at 7:04 pm, while they can eat food in Sehri till 4:48 am. In Delhi, Muslims can break their fast at 7:48 pm. The deadline for having Sehri meal is 4;07 am. Muslims residing in Kolkata can have Iftar at 6:07 pm and Sehri till 3:38 am. In Lucknow, Iftar time is 6:44 pm and Sehri deadline is 3:57 pm. Muslims of Hyderabad will have Iftar at 6:39 pm and can have Sehri meal till 4:28 am. In Bengaluru, Iftar time is 6:37 pm and Sehri for May 9 can be eaten till 4:40 am. The pre-dawn meal is known as Sehri and the food consumed to break the fast is called Iftar. Sehri and Iftar timings vary from city to city based on sunrise and sunset. Roza or fasting in Ramzan is intended to help teach Muslims self-discipline, self-restraint and generosity.
