Jaipur, March 21: The festival of colours was celebrated with full enthusiasm all over Rajasthan on Thursday with people smearing colours on each others' faces. People took to the streets and danced to the beats of drums. Streets wore multicolour. Wearing cloths dyed in hues, people visited friends and relatives and exchanged greetings and sweets. They smeared 'gulal' on each other faces. Besides water colours, organic 'gulal' also remained in demand this time.
"Organic gulal is harmless and causes no irritation and allergy and therefore people are preferring buying it. Colours which are mixed with water before smearing are mostly liked by youngsters," Prakash Kumar, a colour vendor in Tonk phatak area, said. Meanwhile, additional policemen were deployed to maintain law and order. "Elaborate security arrangements are in place and no untoward incident was reported so far," police said.
