Indians are always so geared up about festivals. The festival of colours, Holi is also celebrated with equal enthusiasm like the others. Holi 2018 will be celebrated on 2nd and 3rd of March. There are certain dishes in our wide food menu which are made especially during the festival of Holi. Gujiya: Gujiya are sweet dumplings made with flour and have a lovely mixture inside with dry fruits. It is more popular in the Northern parts of India and made specially during the Holi festival. It resembles a karanji, a Diwali snack but the filling inside differs. This is a rich traditional recipe and you should try definitely try if you haven’t yet.

Puranpoli: Puranpoli is a popular Maharastrian sweet delicacy. It is a flatbread with a filling of chana dal and jaggery. The sweet filling is called the Puran and roti means Poli, hence the name. It is made on the day of Holika Dahan.

Kheer: Kheer refers to a rice pudding which is commonly made for any happy occasion. Kheer is usually made as a dessert flavoured with light spices like cardamom and nuts. There are a variety of kheers which are made in different households and so the flavours differ.

Moong Dal Kachori: Kachoris are a filling snack item, again a popularity from North India. It is commonly called as the Khasta kachori. There are a variety of kachoris but while preparing it is important to get the texture right. Sometimes if it becomes too flaky or too hard, and it cannot be enjoyable. So make sure you all the ingredients in proper quantities.

Dahi Bhalla: Dahi Bhalla or Dahi Vada is a little twist to the street food, in North Indian style. It refers to deep-fried dumplings of urad dal and they are layered in curd along with putting some spices and chutney mixture on it. Just like Dahi Vada is made during any family get-together, Dahi Bhallas are made during Holi.
