Puja Vidhi for Hartalika Teej 2019
The auspicious day will be celebrated on September 1 in 2019. On this day, women should wake up early in the morning, take a bath and wear neat and fine clothes. The house is cleaned and decorated with bel leaves and flowers and Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati is worshipped. The married women should observe nirjala fast on this sacred day. The fast is a difficult one as compared to other fasts as food and water cannot be taken till the next morning.
The women have to take a bath again before sunset and dress up by using solah shringar (Bindi, sindoor, etc.) and get ready for puja. The Puja is performed during Pradosh Kaal. This year, the Pradoshkala Hartalika Puja Muhurat – falls at 08:29 pm to 10:37 pm on September 1. The idols are decorated with flowers.
Idols of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva are made out of sand or clay and are placed at the puja sthan (worshiping place) covered with a new red cloth. Photos of the God and Goddess can also be used. During the puja, Parvati is offered solah sringar along with a new sari. Lord Shiva is offered a new dhoti and uttariyam. The saree and dhoti along with some fruits and sweets are later given to a Brahmin.
