Google is celebrating the festival of colors, Holi with a vibrant doodle portraying the celebrations. The Google Doodle shows people splashing colors while drumming dhols and dancing. The colors in celebration match that of Google's symbolic vibrant hues which are also majorly used while playing Holi. The colors of red, yellow, blue and green dominates the doodle just like its logo. Holi marks the end of winter and beginning of spirit and depicts the triumph of good over evil.

Holi also reminds people to forgive their enemies and give a fresh start to everything. The Hindu festival is synonymous with get-togethers, eating and drinking in the country. Sweets are prepared in loads at homes which revelers consume with bhaang, the infamous drink associated with Holi.

Google describes the colors as "The four main powder colors carry with them a piece of symbolism. Red signifies love and fertility; yellow is the color of turmeric, a natural remedy; blue represents the beloved Krishna; green symbolizes spring and new beginnings." Google wishes everyone on Holi saying, "Whether you choose one favorite color or many, here’s wishing everyone a happy Holi!"

Today's Google Doodle illustrated by Amrita Marino rightly captures the essence of Holi celebrations in the country. Holi is not just celebrated in India, but also in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. Countries with Indian population across the world mark the day by smearing colors on each other, dance and songs. Gujiyas, jalebis and thandai are made in most Hindu households on this day. We at Latestly also wish you all a very Happy Holi!
