Dahi Handi is a fun-filled occasion observed a day after Krishna Janmashtami also known as Gokulashtami. Reminiscing the childhood of young Krishna who stole butter and curd from earthen pots, with the help of his friends, men form human pyramids at public places and try to break pots tied at heights. According to Hindu scriptures, Lord Krishna is the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu. People come together on Dahi Handi and spend the day in various fun activities. Janmashtami is observed on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in Shraavana of the lunar Hindu Calendar and Krishna Paksha in Bhadrapad of the lunisolar Hindu Calendar.
