Guru Purnima 2019 Celebration at Shirdi Sai Baba Temple: Palki Yatra To Be Taken Out At 9:15 PM Today; Check Aarti Timings and Full Schedule

On Tuesday, Shirdi celebrated Guru Purnima Mahotsav at Sainath Devsthanam. The schedule on Guru Purnima includes Kakad Arti, Mangal Snan, Guru Purnima prayers, Guru Paduka worship, Hawan pooja, Mahaprasad, Palanquin procession, Shez Aarti among other rituals.

Shirdi, July 16: On Tuesday, Sai Pariwar Vishwa Seva Sansthan celebrated Guru Purnima Mahotsav at Sainath Devsthanam in Shirdi. Guru Poornima is one of the three main festivals celebrated in Shirdi. Other festival are Ramnavami and Vijayadashami. The worship rituals at the temple started at 5:30 am and will continue till 10:30 pm on Wednesday. The schedule on Guru Purnima 2019 includes Kakad Arti, Mangal Snan, Guru Purnima prayers, Guru Paduka worship, Hawan pooja, Mahaprasad, Palanquin procession, Aarti, Bhajan Sandhya, Shez Aarti among other rituals. Popular Bhajan artist Pramod Medhi will also present popular Sai songs during the Bhajan Sandhya at 7:30 pm. The Palki Yatra (Palanquin Procession) of Sai Baba will be taken out at 9:15 pm accompanied by musical instruments, chariot and horses and followed by all devotees. After the return of chariot procession, Shet Aarati will be performed. Due to Partial Lunar Eclipse (Chandra Grahan) Samadhi Mandir will remain closed after Shej Aarati.

According to Hindu tradition, Guru Poornima is dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers and is observed on full moon day of Shakha Samavat. The word 'gu' indicates darkness and 'ru' suggests the removal of darkness. So "guru" is someone who removes darkness from our lives and guides us on the right path.
