Amritsar, January 2: On the occasion of 353rd Parkash Purab of the tenth guru of Sikhs, Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, the Golden Temple in Amritsar was lit up. Fireworks also took place in the holy shrine on the auspicious occasion. The video of the fireworks was shared by news agency ANI. Devotees also lit diyas in the holy shrine. On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the tenth guru of Sikhs, devotees thronged gurudwaras across the country to seek blessing of the almighty. Pilgrims took holy dip in the sarovar of the Golden Temple. Earlier in the day, President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished people on the occasion of the Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji parkash utsav. According to Nanakshahi calendar, Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji, the founder of the Khalsa Panth, was born on December 22, 1666, at Patna Sahib. He founded the Khalsa Panth on the occasion of Baisakhi in 1699 at Anandpur Sahib. His father Sri Guru Teg Bahadur ji was the Ninth guru of Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh Ji also initiated the Five K's tradition of the Khalsa Panth. These Five Ks are – Kesh, Kangha, Kada, Kirpan and Kachhera. He sacrificed his entire family in the “Dharam Yudh” against the cruelty of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.
